LINES PUZZLE CABINET

Handcrafted from English rippled ash and 5000-year-old bog oak, this contemporary cabinet uses texture, pattern, and geometry to conceal 24 individual drawers within a sculptural exterior form. The flowing carved surfaces are designed to obscure the drawer layout, encouraging interaction and discovery through touch as well as visually.
Each drawer was individually fitted by hand and constructed using hand-cut dovetail joinery. The locking mechanisms were custom designed specifically for the piece and manufactured from brass and stainless steel, contributing to a total component count of approximately 1000 individual parts. The cabinet took over 500 hours to design, make, and assemble.
The combination of ancient bog oak, highly figured English ash, and precision detailing reflects an interest in material contrast, complex geometry, and fine craftsmanship. Designed as both functional furniture and sculptural object, the cabinet balances intricate engineering with organic flowing form.
The piece has received multiple awards, including a Bespoke Guild Mark, Best Bespoke Piece, and Best in Show at the Furniture Maker’s Companies Young Furniture Maker Awards 2023.
Designed and made in the UK using sustainably sourced English hardwoods.
