EROSION

Contemporary dining chair handcrafted from quartersawn English oak with sculptural flowing backrest and organic modern form.
Sculptural oak dining chair inspired by erosion and natural movement, featuring a hand-shaped seat and back formed from a sin

Handcrafted from quartersawn English oak, Erosion is a contemporary dining chair inspired by the flowing forms and gradual shaping found in nature. The design combines sculptural organic geometry with references to traditional chair construction, balancing refined craftsmanship with a distinctly modern silhouette.

The backrest is shaped by hand to create an organically flowing pattern of curves and negative space, giving the chair a light visual presence while maintaining strength and support. The seat and back are formed from a single piece of quartersawn oak, selected for its stability, durability, and clean linear grain.

Every surface is carefully sculpted and refined by hand to create a tactile quality and soften the transitions between components. The flowing lines and subtle asymmetry are intended to echo the effects of erosion and natural movement, resulting in a piece that feels both structured and fluid.

Designed as both functional seating and sculptural furniture, the chair reflects an ongoing interest in natural geometry, material sensitivity, and contemporary hardwood furniture design.

Designed and made in the UK using sustainably sourced English hardwoods.

Hand-carved wood texture sample in scorched English ash, featuring flowing organic contours and enhanced grain detail.
