SCULPTURAL CLOCK

Sculptural wall clock handcrafted from scorched English ash with carved petal-like geometry and minimalist contemporary desig

Handcrafted from solid English ash, this sculptural wall clock combines contemporary design with traditional surface-finishing techniques. The surface is hand-carved and scorched using an ancient Japanese burning process, enhancing the natural grain while creating depth, contrast, and texture across the timber.

Measuring 600mm in diameter, the piece is inspired by natural geometry and organic petal-like forms. Rather than relying on conventional numerals or markers, the carved points subtly suggest the passing of time, allowing the clock to be read intuitively through light, shadow, and form.

Every surface is individually shaped and finished by hand, creating a tactile quality that changes character throughout the day as light moves across the carved contours. Designed first and foremost as a sculptural wall piece, the quartz mechanism is integrated discreetly into the form so that timekeeping becomes part of the overall composition rather than the sole focus of the object.

The scorched finish helps unify the tones of the ash while revealing the finer textures and growth patterns within the grain. Designed as both functional object and contemporary wall sculpture, the piece reflects an ongoing interest in natural geometry, texture, and handcrafted detail.

Designed and made in the UK using sustainably sourced English hardwoods. Available in a range of sizes and materials on request.
