Carved from solid ash and finished by hand.  Ancient Japanese techniques are used to scorch the surface to unify the colours and better reveal the textures in the grain.

Its form is inspired by natural geometry, reminiscent of petals.  Each point becomes a subtle suggestion of a number, allowing time to be read intuitively rather than dictated by conventional markers.  The piece is first and foremost a wall sculpture, with timekeeping woven into its design.
